Amoxil

Amoxil (amoxicillin) is an antibiotic from the penicillin group of drugs used for the treatment of different types of infections caused by bacteria (salmonella infection, ear infections, pneumonia, E. coli, bladder infections, or gonorrhea). In some cases your doctor may prescribe Amoxil along with another drug - clarithromycin - if you need treatment for stomach ulcers. Inform your doctor of any allergies you have, or in case you have asthma, kidney or liver disease, blood clotting disorder, bleeding disorder. In case you are allergic to this drug or other penicillin antibiotics (carbenicillin, ampicillin, dicloxacillin, penicillin, or oxacillin you must discuss the treatment with you doctor.

 

This drug is FDA pregnancy category B, which means it is not expected to harm an unborn baby. However, Amoxil may affect the efficiency of birth control pills, so you may need to consider using an additional method of birth control while taking this medicine. Continue the treatment during the period recommended by the doctor - certain improvement of your symptoms doesn't necessarily mean that the infection has been treated properly.
